TEDI-London
“A new kind of engineer for a new kind of world.”
About TEDI-London
TEDI-London (The Engineering & Design Institute London) was founded in 2019 by King's College London, UNSW Sydney, and Arizona State University to completely reimagine engineering education. The curriculum is more than 50% project- and scenario-based, organized around a design-fabricate-test cycle that mirrors real engineering practice. Students begin solving real problems from day one — theory is introduced when needed to support a project, not before. Admissions is intentionally holistic: students are selected by intellectual capability, passion, and attitude rather than traditional A-levels, welcoming diverse backgrounds including arts, humanities, mature students, and career changers. The institute aims for 50% female participation. Industry partners provide live challenges that student teams compete to solve. The Global Design Engineering BEng has received professional accreditation, and the academic year runs 44 weeks to maximize project time. TEDI-London covers broad engineering areas: civil, mechanical, electrical, electronic, environmental, and design-focused themes — all integrated rather than siloed.
“You don't need to fit the mould to be an engineer. You need to break it.”
